Happy Mirthday to Me!

Yesterday was my Mirthday in the mission and I am now officially 16 months old! WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?!? To celebrate my mirthday, tomorrow we are going to have interviews with President Taylor in Dallas! Interviews are the best becuase you just get 10 minutes to talk to President Taylor about everything that is going on in your life and with missionary work. He is so inspired by Heavenly Father, it is amazing talking to him and him giving you counsel and advice for your life and mission. I absolutely love it, sometimes I wish the interview could be all day!

The Book of Mormon Initiative is going great! We are getting a lot of positive responses from the ward about the challenge to read the Book of Mormon as a family in 4 months. It has brought a lot of strength to the ward and you can tell their testimony is being strengthened. Hermana Merrell and I are having a lot of fun knocking doors and testifying about the Book of Mormon and anyone that lets us in, that is what we teach! It has been a lot of fun because really a lot of people have heard about the Book of Mormon but really don't know anything about it. It is also crazy to hear all the weird things people have heard about it!

We had a really cool experience on Saturday night! Well Saturday was just a really really long day. Everything we had was cancelled and no one was home when we were knocking doors. So we decided to go to Rockwall, which is kind of far, and try some people out there (investigators and less actives) and no one was home! It was so discouraging! So at 8pm, we decided that we were just done knocking doors and trying to find people home, so we decided to just call EVERYONE! (Members, investigators, less actives) anyone we could and invite them to church and if they were members we would tell them that we were excited to see them at church! Well the next morning at 11 am, the chapel was full of people. We had 4 investigators in church and 2 of them were unplanned. It was full of members and less actives and the spirit was just so strong. I love this ward, they all feel like my family.

Another cool experience, so there was a family that I was really close to in Carrollton and they have a son who wasn't sure if he wanted to go on a mission but he was leaning more towards the "no" side. Well anyways, us as missionaries always invited him to the missionary meetings and preparation day activities to try and excite him about possibly serving a mission. Well last week I got an email from him saying that he has just received his mission call and he is leaving in 3 weeks and then today I got an email from him saying that he went through the temple this past week with his family! SO COOL! I love being a missionary!

Anyways, I love you all and thank you so much for you support and letters! I really do appreciate it! I hope you all have a great week filled with missionary moments and opportunities!

Life is just oh so good!

I love my mission. I don't have much time to write today, but I want you all to know that I love each and everyone of you and I am so grateful for you all in my life. This week was a little bit more challenging as the sun has not come out and it has been freezing cold, but hey when you are doing the Lord's work you will always be happy at the end of the day,

This past week we had to "give up" our baptismal date because it turns out that he doesn't live in our area. So yesterday night we had a lesson with him and the Elders that are going to be teaching him, and it was just like a really weird experience giving him up. But I know that he will continue to grow in this gospel and I am excited to attend his baptism when that day comes. We were really struggling with letting him go and then also, our other baptismal date had been ignoring us ever since he has been home from El Salvador. After the lesson with David, we decided to try Hector one more time. We were outside of his house and we decided to pray that he would open the door and let us in, and guess what?!? HE DID! It was a miracle! We had stopped by a few other times earlier this past week and he was completely ignoring us, but he finally let us in and we had a great lesson with him. We recommitted him to baptism and so hopefully he will be baptized before this transfer is over.

There was also a Mission Leadership Council and they announced that Elder Russell M. Nelson will be coming to our mission on January 30th, so we are all super excited. There are exciting things happening here in the Texas Dallas Mission, and I am so excited to be working here in this part of the Lord's vineyard. Love you all so much and thank you for all your emails! They really make my week! There is no work like missionary work!

The Book of Mormon

Hola familia y amigos!

Bienvenido a 2015! Can y'all believe it, because I can't! But hey, life just keeps moving forward I guess, I just wish it would slow down every once in awhile. Well to welcome in the New Year, the Taylor's (my mission president and wife), didn't even skip a beat! We are doing a whole new initiative for the month of January as a mission. This month it is all about the Book of Mormon. There are several parts to the initiative. First, we are reading the whole book of Mormon in 40 days. We started on Christmas and we will end at the end of this transfer. Second, we are sharing a video with all the members, less actives and investigators, about the Book of Mormon, and third, when we contact people on the street that is all we are talking about. The Book of Mormon is something that sets us apart from all the other churches and so many people have heard about it, but when you ask them a question about it, they just have so many misconceptions about it. So the purpose of this initiative is to clear up those misconceptions, testify of the Book of Mormon, and to "flood" Texas Dallas Mission with the Book of Mormon! Also we have a goal as a mission to invite 40,000 people to read the Book of Mormon. It is quite an exciting challenge, but all the missionaries have responded really well to it and so has our ward!

We were asked to get the ward involved in asking their friends about the Book of Mormon and inviting them to read it as well. We have been giving out pass along cards to the members and they have been really excited about it! Also, we have a goal to read the Book of Mormon as a ward in 4 months, starting today as FHE and ending in the beginning of May. It was so cool to hand out the reading schedules yesterday and to see all of their reactions. They seem really committed to doing it, we will just have to remind them every Sunday! The bishop is also super supportive about the goal as a ward, it is so nice because he is just so willing to support the missionary efforts.

This week we finally set a baptismal date with our 22 year old investigator for the 7th of February. We are so excited for him and last night we brought a YSA girl with us and taught him the Word of Wisdom. He was really receptive to it and accepted it right away. What a miracle! Heavenly Father is preparing people every where!

I can't believe that I am sitting at this computer again writing another email. The time is just flying! I am so happy to be here in this ward, with my companion, serving this bishop, ward members and with the other missionaries. I can see the positive effects of our labors everyday, and it is amazing. I hope that everyone has a great week. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is another testament of Jesus Christ! I am so excited for the opportunity that I have just to focus on it for the month of January. The peace that I feel every morning after reading it is just amazing, and I know that this book can guide us and give us direction in our life today! Thank you for all the love and support! I hope everyone has fun going back to school!
